About Levi Mitchell

Graduate student at the University of Ottawa’s Institute of the Environment. Graduated summa cum laude from Salve Regina University majoring in environmental studies with minors in economics & history while a student-athlete with the Men’s Ice Hockey program. Current Junior Economist with Environment and Climate Change Canada and GIS Consultant with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN). Former Project Lead & Remote Sensing Analyst with the NASA DEVELOP program focusing on utilizing remote sensing for ecological conservation in Alaska. As well, a GIS contributor to the UN SDSN Science Panel for the Congo Basin. Previously completed six seasons of silviculture reforestation, four as crew leader, where I managed the planting of 3 million trees over four years. Five tours as a wildland firefighter, two in the leadership position of crew leader. Driven to further my skills in environmental science, economic modelling, sustainability and the applications of remote sensing. My ambitions are to develop strategies and solutions for a future which benefits both ecological and human systems.
