About Lewis Jones

I have completed an MSc in Applied Analytical Science at Swansea University, which covered all aspects of LC/MS and GC/MS (including ionization techniques, mass analysers and detectors) and numerous types of chemical separation techniques. The MSc contained modules focusing on proteomics, pharmaceutics, environmental and forensic analysis, as well as metabolomics. I have a BSc in Biology which has given me an excellent understanding of areas such as microbiology, energy and metabolism, cellular biology, genetics, parasitology and macromolecules. In my time at university and work, I have gained a lot of laboratory experience. At university for my undergraduate degree, techniques such as Electrophoresis, bacterial/fungal plating, array based cytogenetic techniques, ELISA and other immunological assays were covered. Throughout the entire MSc, I gained experience with instruments such as Orbitrap LC-MS and the use of numerous sample preparation techniques such as solid phase extraction. For my MSc project, I gained three months experience in using an LCQ ion trap mass spectrometer, the instrument control and data processing software Xcalibur as well as experience in method development. At work, I follow strict standard operating procedures in a GMP analytical laboratory. I lead a team of analysts on client projects to develop or validate analytical methods and perform analytical testing to further progress the product or process.
