About Lewis Mitchell
Final year undergraduate student with a desire to develop a career in Education. Current interests in biology include waste water treatment, environmental microbiology and molecular medicine. I am due to begin my PGDE in Secondary Biology in August at Edinburgh Napier University. As a new member of the profession, I want to explore pupil support within STEM subjects, specifically how we can engage disadvantaged young people with science while developing their critical thinking skills through unique methods of learning. My career goal is to become a mentor for young people with learning difficulties who may feel they cannot achieve in STEM due to certain circumstances. Within my University I was a Student Representative for my course as well as a member of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Committees for the School of Applied Sciences. Additionally I am the Vice Chair of the Student-Staff Liason Committee.
