About Lewis Urwin

Hello there! Studying BSc Biomedical Science at Northumbria University is building strong foundations in the Applied Sciences and outlining the broader, research-driven, and expanding boundaries of the life science sector. Along with reading about the subject, my interest in human biotechnology and pharmaceuticals has developed as I thought about how can the treatments and technologies for the diseases I had been diagnosing be improved or created. Now in my second year, I am learning more about the Life Sciences and making strong links to the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industry. Securing a biomedical scientist placement with NHSBT will allow me to apply my skills and knowledge to the industry. In the long term, as part of my third year, I intend to apply this interest as part of my research project and then apply for master's programmes in a specific part of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. In the meantime, I hope to make solid connections to like-minded professionals on LinkedIn and take part in some exciting scientific experiences to build up my experience, ready for the first step in my scientific career.
