I'm passionate about helping those with clinical health conditions through laboratory research as well as community outreach. My overall research interest is neuropharmacological approaches to advancing the treatment of neuro/psychiatric disorders, specifically addiction related contexts. Currently, I'm doing graduate research examining the mechanisms of psychedelics in the brain and how this translates to their behavioural effects; using fiber photometry to image neural pathway activation by psychedelics in living (rodent) brains, while simultaneously conducting behavioral experiments. Ultimately, I am exploring whether the psychotherapeutic benefits of psychedelics can be uncoupled from their hallucinogenic effects, for improved treatment of psychiatric conditions like treatment-resistant depression.
