Special Agent @ NC Department of Insurance | MPA, BA Special Agent @ NC Department of Insurance | Investigation, Fraud Detection, Evidence Analysis Healthcare Fraud Investigator As a Special Agent at the North Carolina Department of Insurance, I protect the public from financial crimes and healthcare fraud, using a combination of investigation, fraud detection, and evidence analysis skills. I have over 17 years of experience in this role, and I hold a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Justice and Public Policy. I also have a background in medical coding and accounting, which enables me to identify and analyze complex fraud schemes involving healthcare providers, insurers, and consumers. I work closely with various stakeholders, such as the insurance industry, the NC Medical Board, the NC Board of Pharmacy, state and federal law enforcement agencies, and prosecutors, to collect, preserve, and present evidence for prosecution. I also interview and interrogate related subjects during the course of the investigation. In addition to my role as a Special Agent, I am a Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor at Wake Technical Community College, where I teach and mentor aspiring criminal justice and forensic students. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and expertise with the next generation of professionals, and I create an engaging and interactive learning environment. I also have a military background, having served as a Human Resources Senior NCO in the Army National Guard for over 12 years, with two tours of duties, including one in combat. I retired with an honorable discharge in August 2023.
