About Lia Applegarth

A transplant from California, I moved to Utah where I developed my love of the outdoors. Delving into backcountry skiing, backpacking, climbing, and hiking put me in situations where I began to see the value of medical knowledge. Specifically, when I cut my leg open on a backpacking trip in the Bob Marshall, the largest wilderness area in the lower 48 states that consists of terrain inaccessible to all but hikers and those on horseback. This ultimately led to life changing decisions and the beginning of my pursuit of nursing. I have been able to transfer my skills of communication, critical thinking, and customer service to the hospital environment to provide exceptional customer care. Due to my previous work experience, I am able to work in a fast-paced setting with people from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I understand the importance of individual productivity as well as the necessary cohesion and interdependence of a team environment. It is in the attention to detail and the ability to build relationships that I excel.
