I am a dedicated and experienced healthcare communications professional with over six years of service in the National Ambulance Service. My career began as an Emergency Call Taker, where I was responsible for receiving and triaging calls using the AMPDS system. In this role, I provided life-saving instructions over the phone, including CPR guidance, bleeding control, naloxone administration, and other critical interventions. I was subsequently promoted to Emergency Medical Dispatcher, where I managed the deployment of emergency resources—including ambulances, rapid response vehicles, and intermediate care units—across my assigned region. This high-pressure role required strong situational awareness, multitasking, and effective coordination with emergency departments and other blue light services to ensure timely and appropriate patient care. During this time, I also worked in specialist dispatch areas including aero-medical and critical care coordination. I was responsible for deploying HEMS resources to high-acuity incidents such as road traffic collisions and farm accidents, while working in close partnership with the Irish Air Corps and Irish Coast Guard. I also coordinated tactical medical teams trained in counter-terrorism, mass casualty, and CBRNE response, as well as managing interhospital transfers for critically unwell patients. I was later promoted to Emergency Medical Supervisor, where I oversaw dispatch operations and provided leadership across a range of high-priority and complex scenarios. Most recently, I have taken on the role of Intermediate Care Supervisor, where I manage the intermediate care department within the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC). My responsibilities include collaborating with hospital managers nationwide to ensure the efficient and safe transport of patients. I take great pride in my work, thrive in dynamic environments, and remain committed to delivering excellence in patient care coordination.
