About Liam Coughlin

I am a rising senior at Davidson College majoring in History with a minor in East Asian Studies and proficiency in conversational Mandarin. I am passionate about connecting historical insights with cutting-edge technologies like blockchain, Web3, and AI, especially in the context of current geopolitical issues. This summer, I am a returning intern at Castle Island Ventures, a leading venture capital firm focused on public blockchain infrastructure. I am the Co-founder and President of the Davidson College Blockchain Club, where I lead research and discussions on digital assets and teach the community about emerging blockchain technologies. I have also taken several Digital studies classes at Davidson discussing the societal impacts of AI. I previously founded my high school’s blockchain club and have completed self-directed projects on blockchain technology and NFT marketplaces, including pitching the development office on accepting cryptocurrency donations. In addition to a fellowship in Taiwan (summer 2023), I studied abroad at the University of Sydney last fall, broadening my global perspective. My experience includes a digital marketing internship at the American Chamber of Commerce in Taichung, Taiwan, where I redesigned the website and enhanced the Chamber's social media strategy. At the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, I worked on engaging younger audiences through virtual reality and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). I also worked as a Junior product manager for the interactive coaching app WEV through Davidson's Hurt Hub Entrepreneurial Center.
