About Liam Gibbons
I am a game and interactive designer, writer, and teacher from Melbourne, Australia. I hold a practice-based PhD in shortform, reflective game design. As well as a dissertation, I also produced a series of project works which uncovered, explored, and articulated the findings of the research. My background is in game design, and I'm comfortable as both a 2D and 3D artist, and as a C# programmer. My practice is invested in shortform, contemplative 3D virtual environments, videogames, and interactives. My production specialty lies in 3D, level design, and environment design. I have taught courses in these fields for ten years, across two institutions. I have also taught courses in web/interactive design, animation, and media studies. I am also a freelance writer and critic, and I've had articles and essays published by multiple outlets, including Unwinnable Weekly, Kill Screen, Overland Literary Journal, and RealTime Arts Magazine.
