About Liam McCarton

Liam is a Chartered Civil Engineer and lecturer in TU Dublin and Director of Engineers Without Borders in Ireland. Prior to joining TU Dublin, he worked in International Development managing major infrastructure projects in Ireland, Africa, South America and Asia. Liam leads the Development Technology in the Community (DTC) Research Group within TU Dublin His current research focus is integrating Nature Based Solutions for resilient cities and communities. He is a member of several European Working groups to promote Nature Based Solutions. These include; the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) working group NatureWat and the Water in Industry and Green Infrastructure working groups within the Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform Liam has co-authored a book with colleague Dr. Sean O’Hogain, published by Springer, showcasing a Technology Portfolio of Nature Based Solutions for Innovations in Water Management. Liam is also a Director of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Ireland and leads their Innovation Academy and Development Education programs Liam is currently Chair of the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland (ESAI)(ww.esaiweb.org).
