About Liam McIntyre

I am a Practice Development and Education focused Clinician with extensive experience across mental health care and process advancement. My key capabilities include program creation and implementation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and team development for the promotion of continuous operational advancement in line with regulatory visions and values. My ability to conduct stakeholder liaison and foster professional and personal relationships with clients, families, and team members is effortless due to the engagement of well-developed interpersonal attributes. Employing profound problem-solving capabilities and de-escalation techniques, adapting to ever-changing, challenging, and complex situations is seamless. Within my current role, I actively create and facilitate training for the Mental Health Clinicians, NDIS providers, Emergency Department staff, Junior Psychiatry medical staff and new graduate nurses/allied health. I ensure that all relevant information is effectively absorbed and understood so that high-level operational efficiency is achieved. I provide wellbeing initiatives and undertake surveys to ensure a consistently supportive and positive workplace, and conduct a group reflective practice that covers multiple areas of the service. I handle the coordination of practice development for 60 staff over 4 teams. I have successfully engaged and led team members through significant changes when implementing recommendations from the Royal Commission. During a time when the team was suffering from burnout and the “People Matter Survey” results were showing decreased workplace satisfaction across the board, my contribution within my individual role obtained a 94% approval rating. Through collaboration with Monash University, I created content, learning outcomes, assignments, and day-long presentations on psychological trauma and self-care to develop a university learning module for students of The Masters of Trauma Nursing. I developed action plans in the promotion of effective and positive advancements after I examined the graduate program and the process of preparing graduates for ongoing career achievements, and compared the Emergency Psychiatry team against the 15 Royal Commission workforce competencies in order to prepare them to action these. I conducted thorough research surrounding the practices regarding screening, identification, and addressing of family violence concerns by the Emergency Psychiatry and Emergency Department nursing staff, and implemented an improved protocol through the creation of a user-friendly sheet.
