About Liam Middleton

I am a Trainee Solicitor at Ward Hadaway, currently gaining experience in Real Estate. I work with commercial clients, landlords, tenants, and banks/lenders on a broad range of property matters to assist them in achieving their objectives in property transactions and asset management. Currently, my role involves: • Assisting with the preparation and submission of Land Registry applications, including registering leases, easements, deeds of release, freehold disposals, first registrations and restrictions; • Drafting, reviewing, and reporting on documents such as leases, Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 exclusion notices, statements of truth, and indemnity insurance policies; • Conducting due diligence exercises including reviewing titles, restrictions, and planning agreements, and preparing reports on title; • Supporting property finance matters by drafting legal charges and reviewing residential and commercial tenancy agreements across property portfolios for lender clients. • Calculating and submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax returns for a variety of transactions; and • Liaising with clients, local authorities, insurance brokers, and other legal representatives to progress transactions. As part of a full-service firm, I frequently collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive, commercially driven legal solutions. Before moving into Real Estate, I trained in Commercial Litigation, where I gained experience assisting both individuals and businesses in resolving a variety of commercial disputes across a number of different sectors. Assisted clients at all stages of the dispute resolution process, ranging from the pre-action stage to trial, and I provided pragmatic and commercial solutions to resolve disputes. Having studied at the University of York and now working in Leeds, I take pride in supporting businesses across Yorkshire. Beyond my Real Estate practice, I have a strong interest in intellectual property, art, and entertainment law, having completed a joint-honours Master’s Degree in Art Law.
