About Liam Oconnor

As an MEP Engineer with Winthrop Technologies, I specialise in the coordination, delivery, and commissioning of large-scale hyperscale data centres and associated infrastructure across Europe. Currently based in Finland, I am responsible for overseeing the modularly designed Water Treatment Plant package, which is being constructed off-site, while also contributing to the coordination of MEP systems throughout the wider facility to ensure seamless technical integration, quality compliance, and programme alignment. I hold a First Class Honours MEng in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Dublin City University, specialising in Sustainability and Energy Systems, achieving 93% in my thesis on liquid cooling technologies as sustainable alternatives to air cooling in data centres. I am also a certified Domestic BER Assessor, which has strengthened my understanding of building performance, energy regulations, and sustainability in design. I am currently undergoing the UCD Professional Academy Diploma in Project Management, with final certification expected in December 2025. This programme is enhancing my project leadership, governance, and risk management capabilities - supporting my long-term progression toward project management within the data-centre and construction sectors.
