About Liam Townsend

Passionate about technology, security and problem-solving, I am hoping to transition into cyber security after a diverse career spanning defence, manufacturing, and automation. My background includes counter-IED experience in the army, followed by 10+ years at BMW, where I worked in maintenance and autonomous logistics, optimizing small transport robots to streamline logistic operations. With hands-on experience in data analytics (Power BI, Tableau, Excel), basic coding (command prompt scripting for autonomous robots), and briefly working with PLCs, I have developed adequate analytical and technical skills. I am currently part of a cost-saving initiative at BMW by replacing manual transport routes with autonomous systems, with small transport robots around a busy manufacturing plant. Using LiDAR and 3D scanning to optimize efficiency and safety. Now, I am eager to apply my problem-solving mindset and technical expertise to an IT career. I am actively expanding my knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and automation, seeking opportunities to contribute, learn, and grow.
