About Liat Weiss

I am a third-year student at Northeastern University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in International Business with a Concentration in Accounting and a Minor in Psychology. I have traveled a lot in the past two years, spending a gap year in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, IL, and my first semester of university abroad in Rome, Italy. These travel experiences have taught me how to immerse myself into a new culture in order to fully appreciate it. Now, being on campus in Boston, I was able to adapt very easily into this new space and integrate my travel experiences into my learning. Last summer, I investigated existing research in social facilitation and intrinsic motivation as a Research Assistant for Professor Patrick Hurley, CPA. After synthesizing various theories on these phenomena, I sketched out the basis for a new study involving the impact of social facilitation on employee performance and well-being in auditing field. I learned to read with a critical eye, summarize, and dissect the important pieces of deep research papers and present my findings. I worked as a full-time Tax intern for Andersen during this winter’s busy season. Preparing tax returns, extensions, and estimates in the Private Client Service (PCS) taught me the tax implications of financial decisions and the importance of attention to detail. I learned tax regulations in state and out of state, which helped ensure accuracy in the returns I prepared.
