About Libby Pelt

When I started school at NC State in 2016, my interest in vaccine production and development led me to the Chemical Engineering program, through which I concentrated my studies in Biomanufacturing Sciences with a focus on downstream processing. This experience, as well as my passion and motivation, have allowed me to hone my skills and knowledge to become a valuable contributor to the development of lifesaving drugs and treatments. Now I am a results driven engineer at Merck with strong leadership capabilities in Vaccine Manufacturing Automation, completing projects such as facility-wide distributed control system upgrades. I have experience in global regulatory compliance of automated and computerized systems, as well as in managing capital projects, change control, and deviation investigation. I have been recognized throughout my career for my ability to deliver results while driving multiple changes and projects. My impact to the facilities I work at goes beyond just delivering results, I am also a key player in building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive site culture. I am a core team member of the Merck Durham Gender Parity Initiative. My goal is that one day the barriers women of all colors face in entering STEM industries are removed, and the term "Women in STEM" becomes obsolete.
