About Lieke Wanders

Occupational Therapy is like magic. It is all about making the impossible possible (again). It does not matter what diagnosis clients are dealing with or how old they are. A good Occupational Therapist will attempt to help and support everyone. I am a fourth-year Occupational Therapy student and aspire to develop myself as a multifaceted therapist. I am eager to learn how to help people who experience problems in their daily life due to health conditions (such as mental disorders and dementia) as an Occupational Therapist. Furthermore, I am interested in learning how Occupational Therapy could help treating the negative consequences of new diseases like COVID-19. I am good at listening to my clients and validating their feelings. It makes them feel welcome, safe and heard. “You are very curious and eager to learn, so you take in a lot of knowledge” is feedback I often receive. Next to that, I am enthusiastic, precise and open-minded. My vision is that a lot can be learned from hearing new perspectives. It prevents a one-sided view and leads to the best outcomes. In my study I help other students by explaining various subject-matters when they do not understand them. I get a lot of satisfaction from this. In my spare time I love cuddling my adorable rabbits, singing and spending time with my family. When the weather is nice, I like to go outside.
