Dr Lilian Kiapi a medical doctor and international public health practitioner with over 20 years’ global health experience leading implementation of emergency and development public health projects in refugee, internally displaced and underserved communities. Dr Kiapi currently works as global Director for Health (Country Support) based at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) office in London. Previous roles have included Interim Deputy Director for health (country support), Senior Health Advisor/Health Advisor, Technical Coordinator of Health, Reproductive Health and HIV programs in the UK, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia as well as technical leadership for the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine flagship DFID funded “Making it Happen” maternal and newborn health operations research project in Kenya. Countries of experience include Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Liberia, Libya, Nigeria and Yemen as well as remote knowledge of other countries in Africa, Asia and MENA region. Dr Kiapi has used her expertise and experience to contribute effectively as a member of technical working groups on primary health care, child health, HIV/AIDS, maternal and neonatal health, community health, NCDs, quality improvement and reproductive health issues in several countries and globally. Dr Kiapi serves on advisory boards for the WISH2ACTION consortium IADA, Amani Transformational Foundation, is an editor for BMJ Global and Conflict & Health publications,and has taught at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
