About Lily Knowles

When I decided to study a BA majoring in Film & Media Studies at Otago University, often I was met with dismissal from my fellow students. They didn't see the value in my chosen degree and believed it to be a bit of a 'dead end'. But when I first got a taste of Media Studies at High School, I knew I had unlocked a language I'd always been desperate to learn, but just didn't know it yet. I don't just see value in the world of Media, I see endless opportunities. I see a place for my creativity, passion, and communication skills to flourish. Media is our past, our present, and our future. Working as a Promotions and Content Manager at Radio One 91fm straight out of University, I have developed a deep interest in shaping online spaces and platforms to reflect the energy of real-world initiatives, scenes, and communities. I love working with local Aotearoa artists, assisting with their creative direction and building them a personal brand to help boost their music promotion. Constantly gaining new experience, my skillset has broadened from simply journalism, videography, and graphic design to include marketing campaign management, brand & P.R. development, and event planning. Curiosity is at the heart of being a creative individual, it's what fuels me and the work I do.
