Background
About Lily Watts
I am a senior environmental studies major at Hamilton College pursuing an honors thesis, with minors in art and art history. I currently intern remotely with the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, following a full-time, in-person curatorial internship this past summer. On campus, I am a museum docent at the Wellin Museum of Art and a writer and editor for Collection Magazine, the museum’s student-led publication. I also work as a climate change research assistant on a long-term, NSF-funded study led by environmental studies and sociology faculty. Outside the classroom, I serve as President of the Women’s Rugby Team (formerly Treasurer) and have previously held the roles of President and Vice President of the Debate Team. I am especially interested in how museums and research institutions can foster public dialogue, learning, and action. I hope to pursue a career in these fields and connect the public with pressing environmental and historical issues.
