About Lily Williams
I am the co-inventor of Twistomy, a novel medical device designed to restore continence, control, and a sense of normalcy for ostomy patients. Originally conceptualized as a senior capstone project in 2023, Twistomy has since evolved into a full-time pursuit, now developed in collaboration with the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz and Children’s Hospital Colorado. The innovation has gained national recognition, winning the 2025 Emerging Medical Innovation Valuation Competition (EMIVC) and 2025 AGA Tech Summit Shark Tank, advancing to Digestive Disease Week’s GI Innovation Shark Tank. I lead core efforts in product development, mechanical design, usability testing, and early commercialization strategy. My work spans cross-functional collaboration with surgeons, engineers, and researchers, as well as securing funding to bring this technology closer to patients. With potential to revolutionize ostomy care, Twistomy represents a bold step toward improving quality of life and dignity for ostomy patients and their families.
