About Lindsay Fredrickson

Lindsay Fredrickson founded Chicago Arts and Music Project (CAMP) in November, 2017 with the dream of creating an El Sistema orchestra in Chicago. Lindsay formerly worked as Program Coordinator and Teaching Artist with the Ravinia Festival and as a General Music Teaching Artist for Foundations of Music, dedicated to providing music education at no cost to Chicago Public Schools. Her passion for the El Sistema movement stems from her internship at ROCmusic in Rochester, NY, where she was introduced to the idea of teaching music to affect social change. Lindsay knows the unique power of music to bring value and meaning to a person's life and looks forward to spending her career teaching it to children. In April 2018, Lindsay was selected for a clarinet fellowship with the Global Leaders Program and participated in their Bootcamp program in Honduras in partnership with YOA (Youth Orchestra of the Americas). In 2019, Lindsay was fortunate to give a TEDx talk at DePaul University titled "El Sistema: Changing the Face of the American Orchestra." Lindsay Fredrickson holds degrees in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of Music (M.M.) and the DePaul School of Music (B.M.). She has been privileged to study with Ken Grant, Jon Manasse, Larry Combs, Julie DeRoche, Wagner Campos, and Clarence Padilla. She grew up primarily in Des Moines, IA where she graduated high school from the nearby suburb of Johnston.
