I am a practicing physician and my work has been focused on urgent care medicine, specifically in the setting of an urban underserved population. My clinical work has focused on evidence based, high-quality acute care medicine in the Federally Qualified Health Center setting where I have been a Medical Director for over nine years. My early educational research was on utilization of the urgent care clinic setting as an effective and important educational learning site for medical students and residents and the creation and implementation of a specific curriculum designed for the unique nature of this learning site. More recent research work has focused on operational excellence in the urgent care setting including ambulatory therapeutics for COVID-19 infection, identifying and addressing health care disparities, unique opportunities for care in this setting and implementation of high-quality evidence-based care.
