Leininger Professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and taught at George Mason University before joining the faculty at Virginia Tech. Ling’s research aims to integrate economic and behavioral theories with practice and policy. Her research areas span auditing, ESG/CSR/Sustainability/Climate, financial accounting, and international accounting. Her research methodologies include archival and qualitative methods. Ling has published close to 20 papers (mostly with junior coauthors) in FT50 Journals, including Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Financial Economics, Production and Operations Management, Review of Accounting Studies, and The Accounting Review. BYU accounting research rankings list her as the #11th author worldwide based on the number of Top 6 accounting journal publications in the most recent six years (i.e, 2017-2023). She is also a top 3‰ author on SSRN by paper downloads. Ling is the Senior Editor of Journal of International Accounting Research. She also serves on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory. She has delivered keynote and panel speeches on topics related to research success at international conferences and given over 70 invited research workshops at major research universities.
