Background
About Lingle Chen
I am a UKRI-funded PhD researcher in Paleoclimatology and Paleoceanography at the National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton. My research focuses on reconstructing the East Asian monsoon and dust history using marine sediments from the Japan Sea and the North Pacific. I specialize in Sr-Nd radiogenic isotope geochemistry, environmental magnetism, and remote sensing techniques to investigate both modern and past climate variability. During my PhD, I also completed research placements in meteorology at Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) and in geochemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA), further enhancing my international collaboration experience and technical expertise. I currently have four manuscripts prepared and ready for publication, reflecting the core findings of my PhD research. With a strong academic foundation in marine science, I hold an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Marine Environment, having studied at the University of Bordeaux (France), the University of the Basque Country (Spain), the University of Southampton (UK) and Greece (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research). My undergraduate studies at Zhejiang University (China) were complemented by international research experiences in Japan (Waseda University), Israel (University of Haifa) supported by prestigious scholarships such as the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), and the Master Kong Dream Program. Skilled in interdisciplinary research, I bring expertise in paleoceanography, geochemistry, satellite oceanography, and sediment analysis. I thrive in multicultural, collaborative environments and am actively seeking postdoctoral or research opportunities in climate dynamics, monsoon systems, or marine geochemistry.
