About Lis Herbert

I am a registered nurse with over 40 years experience in both the clinical arena (ICU and Perioperative) and Health IT. I have been working within health IT for the past 30 years and have implemented many information systems within the Gold Coast district, across Queensland and in the USA. My system knowledge is extensive, and includes eMR (Cerner and Epic), HBCIS, ORMIS, EDIS, Auscare, EDS, The Viewer, CIMHA, and the elsevier Clinical Solutions. My clinical knowledge allows me to interact with clinicians of all disciplines very easily, thus providing them with the best of my knowledge in how IT can help and assist with their clinical practice. My most recent position as Elsevier’s Clinical Informatics Manager for ANZ, allowed me to continue to engage with clinicians specifically with our workflow products of Order Sets and Care Plans to ensure “it works for them”. I also work closely with the product manager of the Clinical Skills product providing change and governance expertise. I lived in New York for 2 years, working within the Epic Clinical Transformation Group for the Mount Sinai Organisation. We were implementing Epic into the ambulatory care departments across the city so I continued to use all of my engagement, change and clinical system knowledge and skills. I spend the second year in the special project team, working with clinicians to develop and build increased functions within the system. Following New York, I worked in San Francisco within the Epic Ambulatory Team, providing incident, maintenance and enhancement build, plus support at a number of go lives. After leaving Queensland Health, I completed an 18 month contract with the Gold Coast Medicare Local implementing the then PCEHR eHealth into primary care - this included general practice, pharmacy and allied health practices. Whilst this was challenging, I enjoyed the challenge as it tested my engagement and change skills, plus I learnt about primary care and how that really works. I am a member of AIDH, and the newly formed CiLN network in HiNZ New Zealand. I am widely respected for my depth of knowledge in informatics and passion for its use within health care at all levels, promoting positive patient outcomes whilst enhancing safe and effective health care.
