About Lisa Ackerman

I am a social worker, youth engagement champion, health promotion specialist, consultant and facilitator. I work alongside youth services in schools, organizations and government to center and embed the voices of youth, facilitating meaningful, inclusive, trauma-informed, and sustainable youth engagement. My evidence-based, wholistic services include visioning, program (re-)design, delivery and evaluation, along with health education curriculum delivery, and professional development training. I am also a counsellor who works alongside youth, young adults, parents and caregivers. Together we identify their unique spark and cultivate each person’s authentic voice, radiant talents, powerhouse skills, sense of peace and purpose–by tapping into their inner wisdom, values, passions, resiliency and village. I facilitate an array of groups both with young people as well as caregivers. I am currently focusing on offering Circle of Security groups for caregivers (circleofsecurityinternational.com). I bring 15 years of progressive leadership experience in community development, child and youth services, as well as 12 years in clinical and program management. During this time, I’ve focused on mental health promotion, substance misuse prevention education and counselling and support work. I seek to work with organizations that promote positive child and youth development and wellness, foster connected communities, strengthen families (as defined by the people being served), and intentionally support and develop the dedicated and talented people who are on the front-lines of this work.
