About Lisa Babb

I am passionate about great, timeless design and building connected, strong communities, which has led me down a 20+-year career path in graphic design education that includes teaching students, coaching staff, and developing user-centered systems and frameworks. The hallmark of my career is teaching college students who are out in the world today, significantly impacting the design industry and pursuing their professional goals. I currently teach Introduction to Graphic Literacy at the Georgia Institute of Technology, College of Design, where I lead about 20 students a semester in appropriately using design tools and methodologies to develop researched-based communications, visual messages, and design solutions. Additionally, I wrote curriculum as a Professor of Graphic Design for Savannah College of Art and Design that is still used today and served as the department coach and cheerleader within leadership circles. As the Director of Programs for The STE(A)M Truck, I operationalized our processes and procedures so teams could focus on designing and executing enriching, interactive activities for students and teachers. For example, I established a systemized process to manage our client engagement projects from the initial contact to implementation and execution, and project close-out. When I’m not delivering design courses or helping develop curricula, I pursue another passion – traveling. Exploring Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia has exposed me to numerous cultures, giving me a unique perspective to building culturally inclusive and human-focused designs.
