About Lisa Baker

I am a recent graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Through Detroit Mercy’s Law Firm Programs, Internships, and upper level writing courses, I sought opportunities to work diverse issues in a variety of settings. Detroit Mercy’s Law Firm Programs are designed to produce practice ready attorneys. Students are required to independently research issues and draft appropriate court documents; taking a case from inception to completion. I participated in two Law Firm Programs: Juvenile Justice and Family Law. I interned at both the district court and the circuit court level. My experience as a law clerk provided me with the opportunity to improve my legal writing and analytical skills as well as gain expose to a wide range of areas of law. Additionally, I served as the pilot subject for an experimental internship offered to upper level students at Detroit Mercy. This internship allowed me to work in a small firm doing private civil litigation as well as prosecuting at the district court level. While at Detroit Mercy, I excelled in the areas of Business Organizations, Sales, Estates and Trusts, Health Care Negotiations, Torts, Criminal Law/Procedure, and Family Law. I was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in May, 2018. I recently worked as a Judicial Research Attorney for the Probate Court of Livingston County. There I managed a docket which included probate, felony criminal, abuse and neglect, civil, and family court issues. I have some courtroom experience and am a quick study. I feel that I would bring relevant experience, interest, and enthusiasm to the job.
