About Lisa Diamond

I have worked in the healthcare industry for close to three decades as a clinician, project manager and operational and strategic leader. I trained and worked as a registered dietitian in long term care, home & community care and community public health in pre/post natal/infant and family nutrition. I ran my own business from 1994 to 2020 in private practice and consulting as well as working part-time for reputable organizations as a dietitian, project manager and leader (manager/director). I completed the PMP certification in 2012. In 2014 I joined Island Health as a Manager in Long Term Care. At Aberdeen Hospital, I redesigned the operational programming streamlining services and improving quality of care and services for residents. In 2018 I was operationally moved to Oak Bay Lodge to streamline operations in preparation for relocating to The Summit (320 bed LTC Facility). I continue at The Summit as the licensed manager working in a collaborative leadership team model. Opening The Summit (second largest LTC facility in Canada at the time), in the height of COVID (July of 2020), was challenging and humbling leading me to start and complete an MBA. Healthcare leadership today requires a new mindset, skills and approaches that I was able to deeply contemplate, dive into and debate with peers during my MBA. The Summit has brought me opportunities to lead LTC operations in implementing fully activated Power Chart (Electronic Health Record), onsite community renal dialysis program, and specialized population unit for people requiring LTC services with mental health and substance use complexities. The Summit has also challenged me in having to re-evaluate employee engagement and human resource strategy for recruitment and retention. I have developed peer champion programs in areas of health and wellness, occupational health and safety, electronic record support and clinical care improving employee engagement and resident outcomes. The occupational health and safety champion program won a national award in early 2023.
