Since Lisa has worked as a professional writer and in her husband’s custom jewellery business, Stephen Dibb Jewellery, the most awarded jeweller in Queensland. Before that Lisa worked for 17 years in the computer industry in networking and data communications. Lisa is currently the president and co-founder of Queensland Alliance for Kids (QAK), advocating for permanent families for children in foster care who can never return home safely. Their advocacy includes providing education and written submissions to the Queensland Department of Child Safety (DCCSDS). Under her leadership, QAK has made a major contribution to the pending legislation amendments that will see of children in the Queensland foster care system find permanent homes changing their lives forever. Her achievements include: 2001-present - creating many opportunities for Ethiopian adoptees to access their culture. 2001-present – fundraising in excess of for Ethiopian family focussed charities. 2003/4 – part of the IAFQ/AACASA advocacy team that saw direct improvement in adoption practices (through legislation change to Qld Adoption Act) and an additional 200 intercountry adoption applications leaving Qld. 2008/2009 - part of the IAFQ/AACASA advocacy team that saw major improvement to the Qld Adoption Act including the dispensing with parental permission where it was in the best interest of the child. 2013 – Implementation of 10 of her Adoption Red-tape Reduction suggestions by the Qld Dept. of Child Safety. 2013 – Co-founder of QAK. 2017 - Under her leadership, QAK has been influential in the pending permanency legislations amendments to Qld Child Safety Act. Awards: 2016 – Lisa and her husband’s business, Stephen Dibb Jewellery, won the 2016 Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards for Corporate Citizenship for their work in adoption, foster care & Ethiopia. 2006 Babes in Business’s Halo Babe award for her humanitarian work in adoption & Ethiopia.
