About Lisa Gates

A champion of the human spirit, Dr. Lisa Gates is a speaker, coach, trainer and results-driven, equity-minded, student-centered, servant leader with extensive experience in many aspects of the higher education enterprise. Her passion is unlocking potential for students and clients. She is noted for inspiring critical thinking and generating thoughtful discourse. Focused on increasing understanding of the intersectionalities of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Skilled at co-creating transformative leadership practices, programs, and outcomes at the university, non-profit, corporate, and global levels and inspiring, coaching, challenging, & mentoring students and participants through the application of critical pedagogy, experiential learning, & research. Dr. Gates integrates leadership and compassion into her work. She holds a doctorate in Communication from the University of Southern California where her research centered around inclusion, power, agency, and change in organizational systems and processes. Dr. Gates is a regularly-invited speaker who also facilitates leadership development training across campus. Beyond her experience as a faculty member and educational administrator, she has also served as a consultant and executive coach across a wide range of industries including financial services, education, the airline industry, healthcare, semiconductor assembly services, wireless technology, and more. Dr. Gates has provided coaching and counsel to leaders including students, entry-level to middle- and senior executive levels, and she partners with clients in the design and implementation of high-impact leadership development solutions.
