About Lisa Learman

I am a passionate science communicator with expertise in molecular biology and neuroscience. In my role as Associate Science Writer/Editor at IQ solutions, I write and edit materials in support of the National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I believe that clear science communication is critical to improving health and health disparities. Through my PhD program at Johns Hopkins Medicine, I gained expertise in neuroscience, cellular, and molecular biology and was awarded pre-doctoral fellowship from the National Institute on Aging for her work on the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity. I have written about science for a general audience as a contributing writer for the member magazine of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and for the Johns Hopkins Biomedical Odyssey blog. I have additional experience disseminating complex scientific information in a clear and engaging way as a teacher at Goucher College and a volunteer at the Maryland Science Center.
