About Lisa Mason

I'm in the business of empowering people. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, I joined Pinnacol Assurance in 1990, starting in the file room. Today I'm the associate vice president of human resources and the first woman of color to ever hold a senior leadership position at Pinnacol. Much of my success is thanks to early mentors who saw and encouraged my potential. And I seek to do the same for others—I'm here to remove as many gates as possible for traditionally marginalized people. In 2019 as a business director, I formally moved into equity work when I took on the leadership of Pinnacol's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy. In that role, I led a team working to create pay equity, breaking down hiring barriers for women and people of color, and developing pipelines for advancement for women.
