About Lisa Nelson

Lisa Nelson is Strategic Advisor and Business Development Manager for USALearning. In her role, Lisa is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of the organizations change management, marketing and communications initiatives to support USALearning products and services. This includes listening to market trends, conducting research for the program, and liaising with other teams to guide a unified approach to customer service and distribution. Lisa's also responsible for creating and maintaining a solid network of strategic partnerships.Lisa's also the founder of Open Opportunities, a platform that facilitates collaborative work across the Federal Government. Federal employees can create projects, propose working groups, get testers for new ideas or products, or assemble teams to act on their ideas. They can also post tasks on the platform and feds with the requisite skills can respond to help complete the task, allowing them to add to their skill set while being able to point to concrete results. The goal of Open Opportunities is to transform how work is done from the current stove piped agency model to one that leverages the skills and capabilities of federal employees across the government when and where they are needed. By fostering a disruptive program and building a network of federal employees, Lisa is increasing the capacity of government to innovate by leveraging the skills and capabilities of federal employees across the government when and where they are needed. Previously, Lisa was the founder and editor of the U. S. General Services Administration's DigitalGov Blog, an integrated publishing tool where feds found the information they needed to support their work in moving towards a digital government. The Digitalgov Blog is now part of Digitalgov. Before her GSA life, Lisa worked for National Partnership for Reinventing Government, a Clinton-Gore Administration initiative to reform the way the federal government works, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Administrative Office of the Courts.
