About Lisa Pon

Lisa Pon is a professor at USC, where she teaches the history of early modern European art, architecture, and visual culture. Her research interests include the technology of art, the authority of the aritst, and the work of art as religious image. She has received research grants or fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, American Council of Learned Societies, the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, the American Philosophical Society, the Center for the Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, the Getty Research Institute, and the Warburg Institute. Author of numerous articles in international academic journals, she has also published two books and four co-edited or co-authored volumes: A Printed Icon in Early Modern Italy: Forlì's Madonna of the Fire (Cambridge, 2015); Raphael, Dürer, and Marcantonio Raimondi: Copying and the Italian Renaissance Print (Yale, 2004); Im/materiality in Renaissance Arts, co-edited with Kate van Orden (2024); The Books of Venice/Il Libro Veneziano, co-edited with Craig Kallendorf (Venice: Talìa Editrice, 2008); a special double issue of Word and Image, co-edited with Graham Larkin,"Printing Matters: The Materiality of Print in Early Modern Europe," vol. 17(January-June 2001); and Clay Dean, Theresa Fairbanks, and Lisa Pon, Changing Impressions: Marcantonio Raimondi and Sixteenth-Century Print Connoisseurship (exhibition catalogue, New Haven: Yale University Art Gallery,
