About Liz Avery

MBA and seasoned communications strategist and practitioner with natural leadership ability and a personal focus on fostering innovation and creative thinking through the development of diverse and inclusive workplaces. I bring to the table more than two decades of experience and a strong background in marketing and internal communications as well as change management. I specialize in storytelling. By taking time to understand stakeholders, I develop multi-channel strategies to help different audiences stay informed, feel supported and do the things needed to make communication and change efforts succeed. By taking a creative approach to my work, I focus on colleague engagement and writing in a way that translates concepts that are abstract, technical, or just “new” into messages to which audiences can relate. I like to think big, ask questions and collaborate with others who are open to trying something even just a little bit different… I have also long been sold on the value that diversity and inclusion bring to a workplace. At WTW, I’ve been involved in the company’s I&D efforts since joining in 2013. I currently co-lead the North America Gender Equity Network and am a member of the company’s North America Inclusion and Diversity Council. I have been actively working with our Learning and Development team since 2020, facilitating workshops for WTW people managers on the topics of inclusion, equity, motivation/engagement and how to provide meaningful feedback. I have also worked specifically within our Corporate Risk & Broking business, developing and co-leading a session on empowering behaviors in career development.
