About Liz Barton

With extensive experience and a varied portfolio career, my purpose is to explore solutions to support the health and happiness of people and pets; from communications and events to mentorship and clinical outcomes. Some of my current interest areas are included below: Veterinary communications - exploring issues, opportunities and challenges facing the animal health industry through varied collaborative communication channels and driving discussion towards developing solutions. Community - creating peer support communities and hosting events to provide a safe space to discuss challenges, and platforms for social connection. Technology and innovation in the veterinary and healthcare sectors - especially technology to improve access to care, workflow efficiencies, clinical outcomes and knowledge sharing and acquisition. Wellbeing - exploring how to improve the mental, physical and social wellbeing of veterinary team members. Working towards a happier, healthier veterinary workforce while providing a good service for clients and improving animal health and welfare. Diversity, equity and inclusion - the veterinary industry is still woefully lacking diversity, especially in leadership roles. I'm interested in tackling issues around ethnic, social and gender diversity. I've tackled the topics of women's health, parenting in the profession and self-worth to encourage women to have fulfilling veterinary careers and be a bit kinder to themselves. Clinical interests - veterinary diagnostics and the art of veterinary care (communications!) in addition to evidence-based medicine and science.
