Background
About Liz Borod Wright
I’m a seasoned strategic communicator and digital content creator with a career that spans journalism, international communications, and social media. Currently, I serve as Head of Communications at Richard Attias & Associates (RA & A), a global firm renowned for organizing prestigious international summits. I lead integrated communications strategies — including paid and earned media, branding, and crisis communications — and oversee marketing materials, video production, digital campaigns, and internal communications, including a bimonthly staff newsletter I launched in Spring 2024. My expertise in international and public affairs has been deepened through my work with RA & A’s client, the FII Institute. I’ve played a key role in promoting and covering the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conferences in Riyadh and FII PRIORITY summits in Rio de Janeiro and Hong Kong, gaining invaluable experience communicating across global audiences. I joined RA & A in 2019 as Senior Social Media Manager after working with nonprofits through Digimentors, a social media consultancy co-founded by Sree Sreenivasan and Andrew Lih. Prior to that, I held impactful digital roles at major media outlets. At BBC Travel, I helped grow its Instagram following from to as part of a global five-person team. At NBC New York, I served as Social Media Editor, doubling Instagram followers and increasing Twitter and Facebook audiences organically. Earlier in my career, I held editorial positions at ABCNews.com, where I managed the homepage and coordinated breaking news coverage; at Zagat, where I led a nationwide team of food writers and oversaw the weekly newsletter; and at outlets including Good Housekeeping, Folio, and FORTUNE.com, where I began as a reporter. I became an early adopter of social media in 2009 when I launched my travel blog, Travelogged.com, and participated in #FollowMeAtSea in 2010 — one of the first influencer trips of its kind. I’ve shared that passion in the classroom as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia Journalism School and NYU. I'm also a co-founder of Social Media Weekend, a pioneering two-day conference that launched at Columbia in 2011. I hold a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia Journalism School and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Cornell University, where I reported for The Cornell Daily Sun and spent a semester in Washington, D.C, interning in the West Wing Office of Communications at the White House. I currently serve on the Columbia Journalism School Alumni Board.
