About Liz Egan

I am currently working as a Visitor Engagement Assistant at the Tate Modern. Key responsibilities of this role include providing information and engaging with visitors, knowing the collection, completing art checks to ensure the safety of the collection, and helping to run and manage different installations. I have also helped to run all the Uniqlo Tate Play projects since its inception, and regularly utilise a different set of skills to engage with and inspire children. In this role, I manage the space, utilise my safeguarding skills, and provide feedback on how the projects are being received, while working closely with the learning and early years department.Similarly, I help to manage and run the Clore Hub several times a week, which is another part of our offer to families which provides a space for them to relax and engage with activities we provide. Within this role, I have been curating our next activities by drafting proposals and budgets for senior management. I am also leading the team on the creation and implementation of art related sensory experiences for under 5’s in our space and the galleries. Moreover, I have completed training with the volunteers' team and now regularly deliver talks and tours across Tate, and have helped launch LGBT+ tours. I have also recently written a talk tailored specifically for secondary school children. These talks involved using my research, writing and organisational skills developed during my undergraduate degree, and helped me become more familiar with our collection and curation.
