About Liz Hicks

After graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, I began a role as an Assistant Scientist at Bristol Myers Squibb in Manufacturing Science and Technology. Here, problem-solving and critical thinking are integral to my role, to ensure optimal study outcomes in scale down model laboratory studies. I am a driven individual, demonstrated by my three years of independent undergraduate research alongside my co-op in BMS's Upstream Process Development department. I am patient-focused and always in pursuit of new knowledge that pushes the boundaries of healthcare. This is reflected in my senior capstone, where I worked to design a 3D in vitro model of uterine fibroids, and my project where I worked in a team of four to create an initial prototype of a medical device to relieve ostomy bag users (ostomates) from stress regarding bag leaks. My commitment to fostering knowledge extended to my position as a Peer Learning Assistant at WPI, where effective communication was key to assisting fellow students in complex biomedical engineering concepts. This role, alongside my knowledge in several technological fields, supports my pursuit of excellence in the biotechnology sector.
