About Liz Knauer
Liz Knauer is a scholar and educator addressing the challenges and opportunities in increasingly globalized higher education contexts. She is a visiting assistant professor of cultural sociology and academic English at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where she has also coordinated the Summer Intensive English Program for incoming undergraduate and graduate international students. In addition to teaching, she is completing her dissertation, which explores how transnational intellectuals who have lived and worked as scholars and educators in multiple national contexts understand and make decisions about their work across social contexts. Throughout her teaching and research practice, Liz is interested in the complexity of cultural diversity within higher education contexts, and aims to bring practical concerns such as language learning and educational socialization into closer alignment with the social and intellectual goals of liberal arts education and cross-cultural engagement.
