About Liza Dresner

I have been active in the voluntary sector for over 40 years. Initially in the playgroup and under 5's world as one of the first social workers with responsibility for under 5's and their families, the precursor to Sure Start, and then as a volunteer, board member and finally Chair of The Food Chain a wonderful HIV charity providing practical food services for those who were very unwell and isolated. I worked as a consultant and freelance trainer for various umbrella organisations including Evelyn Oldfield Unit providing fundraising and governance support to small and developing voluntary organisations. After 13 years I retired as Director of Resources for Autism running practical services for those with a diagnosis of autism and their families in Greater London and the West Midlands. We have 170 part time staff and approximately 150 volunteers supporting nearly families and individuals. Our specialism is supporting those who have found it difficult to access other services as their behaviour has been seen as too challenging. I am then worked part time for 4in10 hosted by Children England working with small organisations that challenge child poverty in London and was proud to be a Trustee of Right to Remain for three years and am now a volunteer with Care for Calais.and Sufra NW. I was an active member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Civil Society as well as a number of other voluntary and community organisation
