About Liza Sherwin

After spending the last few years in beautiful Marco Island as an Event Manager at the JW Marriott, I have decided to return to my Northern Virginia roots to be closer to family and tap into the expansive opportunities available. When I entered the workforce right out of Virginia Tech in 2021, the hotel was understaffed coming out of the pandemic. Event operations needed a manager and through my adaptability, dedication and hard work, that is where I learned the inner workings of executing a great event. The experience of overseeing the teams on the floor provided me the foundation that helped me excel once I was promoted to event manager. By planning and executing over 45 personal and corporate events a year in that role, I have honed my communication skills. I have learned not only to uncover and understand a clients needs but how to effectively communicate the implementation of them to the internal and external vendors to see their dream become a reality. I have mastered the art of both keeping a cool head as well as providing levity through high-pressure moments that are inevitable. I am looking for a position either in event planning, communications or marketing where I am able to utilize the resilience, positivity, and problem solving skills that make me a great addition to any team.
