About Lize Colson

Hi there! I’m Lize, in my thirties, eager to embrace a new work challenge in the creative and cultural fields. Growing up in Koksijde on Belgium’s West Coast, I early on developed a passion for organising, languages and various creative pursuits like fashion, food, interior design, acting and singing. My journey took me to Antwerp for university, where I studied Communicatiewetenschappen, focusing on urbanisation, culture, media, and sociology. I also attended a summer school at the London School of Economics, which broadened my perspective. I earned my master’s in Strategic Communication, completing an internship at Contentlab. There, I worked on projects for clients like Hans Anders, Bebat and Week van het Bos. My thesis on Cultivation theory and popular music earned special recognition at Etmaal van de Communicatie 2015, a highlight of my academic career. Following this, I pursued a postgraduate degree in Trendwatching in Ghent, collaborating with notable companies like Coca-Cola Enterprises, Vooruit, Coiffee and ARTure. I began my professional journey at the Ghent Festival of Flanders, where I handled all-round communication, including social media, copywriting, and press relations. After that I worked at Aubergine Artist Management in Brussels for 3,5 years, focusing on production, communication & administration. On top of that, I assessed funding files for the Music Commission (Arts Decree). Next, I served as the jazz/folk/worldwide music representative at VI.BE, the support centre for artists and the music industry in Flanders and Brussels, for almost 6 years. Through our brand, Belgium Booms, it promotes the vibrant Belgian music scene internationally. In my spare time, I used to volunteer as a blogger for This is Antwerp, a lifestyle blog about trendy events and hotspots, and assisted my mom with promoting her bed & breakfast, Summertime. I’m excited to explore opportunities that align with my passion for creativity and culture, and I look forward to making a meaningful impact in my next role.
