About Lloyd Wafer

I have an infectious drive to improve myself and the world around me. This drive has guided me through a rewarding multi-faceted career as a researcher and educator, working with diverse learners ranging from the elementary to graduate student levels. As a youth, armed with a crumbled-up bus pass and an exorbitant amount of pent-up energy, I dove headfirst into program management and implementation by founding and instructing an after-school chess program for neighborhood kids. The joy and purpose I felt from building that program fueled my desire to enact meaningful change and led to my advanced study of teaching methodology at The University of Chicago. I then spent some of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life becoming an effective and transformative teacher on the Southside of Chicago, where I specialized in curriculum design and implementation, and became a finalist for the city-wide “Drive” award for developing and conducting in-service teacher training on a self-created intermediate math extended-response framework. I’ve never stopped growing and improving upon ways to unpack the instructional needs of my audiences and tailor my presentations and learning paths accordingly. I’m a fast learner who never stops learning. My teaching and presentation skills are generalizable and adaptive and I love applying them to new and engaging challenges. I can’t wait to discuss with you the infinite possibilities of a collaboration between us.
