About Logan Phillips

Passionate about studying, embodying, and advancing traditions of Black radical thought in relation to Black political education, my intellectual project considers how Black people have envisioned a project of education beyond the normative United States schooling system and explores how such a vision of education can be a strategy and tactic for liberation and social movements. I explore how Black print culture—as both a tool for and spatial context of Black political education—can serve as a collective resource to (1) combat various forms of oppression and (2) defy the dominant paradigm of individualized economic advancement perpetuated by the exploitative, capitalist racist aims of statecraft in the U.S. schooling system. My current historical-temporal problem space of inquiry explores the mid- to late-twentieth century.
