About Logan Smith

Graduate student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. I am passionate about studying the intersection between the natural world and society. Communities with high socioeconomic status have been able to maintain access to natural resources that afford healthy lifestyles and positive health benefits, while other communities have been stripped of those same resources and even forced to live in communities made actively toxic due to a lack of governmental concern for the natural world and where these marginalized communities reside. With my passion for biology, sociology, and public health, my areas of focus are on health disparities that exist within urban environments. With this, I plan to explore the broader question of how the world of politics impacts the health and safety of marginalized communities.
