About Lora Shapiro

People choose different career paths for different reasons. I chose a career in wealth management because I’m passionate about helping entrepreneurs and business owners plan their financial futures. I always find myself very curious to understand how people value money, i.e. Is it a means to freedom? To protect oneself and family? To do something new and exciting? If I can understand my clients’ money story, then I’m in a much better position to be able to help them achieve their financial goals. I love talking with clients and getting to know what makes them excited, what they fear, and how they see the world. My career in finance began 12 years ago with a temp contract at BMO Nesbitt Burns where my role was to archive, file, fax, answer phones and I essentially worked my way up from there. During this time, I completed all of my course requirements and took extra courses to continue my education in finance and investment management (which is still ongoing). To date, I’ve worked on three advisory teams, and have been promoted to more challenging roles in each team, the latest being an investment associate for Richard Dri. I hold my Chartered Investment Management designation and am working to also receive my Certified Financial Planner designation. In my free time, I maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, and love to practice heavy weightlifting to keep fit. In the summer, I love to escape the city on weekends and spend time with my family at the cottage. I was born in Germany, and raised in Israel until the age of 12, when my family emigrated to Canada. I now live in Toronto with my partner, our two kids and our dog Mylo.
